Artist Profile Born 1958 to a coal minning family in Willaimson ,West Virginia,
Allen has always loved to draw and paint.
He moved to Richmond, Va.
with his brother Edward and his mother Elizabeth after the death of
his father in 1961. They settled in the museum district near the Virginia
Museum of Fine Art. There he was exposed to many ofthe old master painters
work and some of the modern day artist work such as, Warhol and his
favorite Wayne Thiebaud.
He has studied at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Painting and Print
Making and Art Instruction School in Minneapolis Minnesota. He is currently studing
under master artist Barry John Raybould via the internet. Allen moved to Kenbride
in 2004. His paintings are currently in the Galeria Gallery in Clarksville, Va.
and in the Petersburg Regional Art Center in Petersburg, Va. where he has a studio.
His paintings have been in galleries as far north as Nebraska and as far north
as Philadelphia. He is a member of The Oil Painters of America, The Petersburg
Area Artist League, and Richmond`s Visual Art Center.
