Guy Barnard
Artist Profile
Not long after Guy was born in Baltimore Maryland he realized that his world would always revolve around the arts. A self taught artist, Guy feels he has realized the dreams that many artists can only hope to follow.

Throughout his development as an artist, his media has ranged from drawing and painting, photography, fine wood carving, collage, mixed media 3-D design, digital art, as well as wire sculpture. He has received commissions from a wide variety of prominent Richmond area citizens, including patrons from Shockoe Bottom Art Center, Visual Arts Studio, and Artemis Gallery, Thalhimers Real Estate INC, and the Ukrops family. Each medium has opened new vision toward what he feels to be an ongoing growth, essential to the artist.

His most recent work has encompassed two of his greatest loves: wire and wood. Those closest to him feel that these figurative works have brought him to a new level. In presenting this work to the public, he has received Best In Show from the Petersburg Art Center, as well as Honorable Mention from Artworks Gallery.

For his future works, he plans to follow the path that these figurative sculptures in wood, clay, and wire have taken him. As the journey continues, he feels each sculpture developing it’s own personal story. He invites the viewer to discover the hidden message that each of his works carries within, and to offer their own insights as to what they discover. It is from these discoveries and suggestions , that his art will continue to grow and develop.
